Here’s a lesson in why it’s important to keep up to date with patches, particularly on Windows machines. The Downadup worm infected 9 million PCs within four days last week. A patch released by Microsoft in October for MS08-067 hasn’t been installed on a third of Windows systems, according to InfoWorld.

One of our most hotly-anticipated new handsets, the Nokia N97 has been slated for release in ‘early 2009′ but no firm date has been given. If Play.com’s pre-orders are to be believed however, you will be able to get you hands on one at the end of March.

Onliine retailers Play.com have opened up pre-orders for the new phone and reckon they will be shipping it on March 31st in the UK. Play are charging £479.99 for an unlocked SIM-freeversion of the phone. You do get free delivery, which is something.

The N97 is a slimline touchscreen phone with a slide-out keyboard that promises a 5 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS and an ample 32GB of onboard storage (expandable via SD card).
